Biozone's InDuct units for Home and Business can provide dramatic improvement in indoor air quality by cleaning the air of biological contaminants like bacteria, viruses, and mould, destroying hazardous fumes, removing harmful particulates, and neutralizing unpleasant odours.

The unit is simply fitted to the duct or plenum so that the UV bulb fits through a predrilled hole in the duct wall. The unit is connected to a conventional power supply using the AC/DC adaptor that converts the power to 12v DC which plugs into the unit fitted to the wall of the duct.

As air in the duct passes the unit it is exposed to high intensity ultraviolet light which creates a photochemical process that kills bacteria, viruses and moulds and helps to break down unhealthy pollutant gases and odours. Particles in the air such as dust and smoke are removed from the air by electrically charging them with negative ions and photoelectrons. Wavelengths from the special ultraviolet lamp also energise the air creating a highly active gaseous state containing excited atoms and molecules, ionised gases, radicals and free electrons. This is what is termed 'purifying plasma' and it destroys bacteria, viruses and mould and breaks down fumes from such things as smoke and chemicals and also neutralises unpleasant odours. The ultra pure air is blown back into the room space carrying with it the purifying plasma which continues to seek out and destroy harmful contaminants and odours in the general air space.

The unit can be fitted to almost any duct supply an area between 232 and 464m2, but is ideally located down stream of filter banks or in the return plenum. Care should be taken to avoid installation locations where the UV light could shine directly onto synthetic materials e.g. plastics.

The unit has a optic lens on the outside of the unit which will glow blue to demonstrate that the UV light is on inside the duct. The bulb should last for about 1 year on continuous use or up to 2-3 years if used intermittently. Periodically the bulb will require cleaning with alcohol and a soft cloth to retain its power.
