HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filters

Hepa air filters are the most efficient type of air filter available. They are 99.97% effective at removing particles as small as 3 microns. This will deal with particles such as cement dust, pollens, fly ash and some bacteria etc. but smaller bacteria and viruses are not dealt with.

Hepa Air Filter Weaknesses:

  • Filters block and need to be cleaned and replaced regularly
  • Difficult time removing airborne particles from across the room, since they must be drawn through the filter.
  • Do not remove chemical fumes, gases, cigarette smoke or odors.
  • Do not capture ultra-fine particles, viruses or germs.
  • Micro-organisms captured in filter can breed and/or reproduce, resulting in increased micro-organism populations

Electrostatic Air Cleaners

Will deal with large airborne particles but smaller particles, bacteria and viruses are not dealt with.

Electrostatic Air Filter Weaknesses:

  • Plates become coated
  • Filters become blocked and need regular cleaning and replacement and the efficiency reduces
  • Difficult time removing airborne particles from across the room, since they must be drawn through the filter.
  • Do not remove chemical fumes, gases, cigarette smoke or odors.

UV Air Cleaners

One of the germicidal technologies used in Biozone products but it is not efficient on its own. Biozone products use 4 different processes and technologies to ensure a more efficient purification process.

Negative Ionizers

Combines compounds together, causes dust layers and the area around the unit becomes black, when used as a single technology.

Chemical Air Freshners

Chemical freshners cover odours but do not remove them and while odours may be temporarily masked the air is never properly disinfected.

In addition recent EC regulations concerning the use of chemicals may mean that their use may be banned in certain areas.

Conventional Cleaning

  • Mopping
  • Dusting

Dangers of cross contamination with the use of dirty mops, buckets, water and cloths.
